The partnership follows Levidian’s earlier supply of graphene for testing in ecosparc® coatings.

UAE – Sparc Technologies, an Australian technology development company, has teamed up with Levidian Nanosystems, a manufacturing company that specialises in the production of graphene, to accelerate the commercialisation of graphene-enhanced protective coatings in the Middle East.
Sparc Technologies is also considering establishing local manufacturing operations in the United Arab Emirates.
The two companies have signed a non-exclusive memorandum of understanding (MoU) covering the development, production, and commercialisation of Sparc’s ecosparc® additives for protective and industrial coatings across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
Under the proposed arrangement, Sparc will develop ecosparc® formulations and carry out testing in its ISO-accredited laboratories, while Levidian will supply graphene, provide technical support, and help connect the partnership with major regional end users, including large infrastructure owners and national oil operators.
The companies will also collaborate with coatings manufacturers and end users on qualification testing, field trials, and product specifications.
The agreement includes plans to assess whether ecosparc® additives can be manufactured locally in the UAE within 24 months, subject to a mutually agreed business case.
Sparc and Levidian also aim to establish a binding joint development or commercial supply agreement within 12 months.
Sparc Managing Director Nick O’Loughlin said the collaboration could help the company strengthen and expand its presence in the region.
He said Sparc was pleased to deepen its relationship with Levidian to market and potentially produce ecosparc® in the Middle East, describing Levidian as a leader in high-quality graphene production with strong relationships across the GCC.
The partners will jointly plan potential commercial arrangements covering manufacturing and distribution, quality requirements, geographical scope, market volumes, and target pricing. A joint technical committee will meet monthly to set priorities and review progress.
The MoU is non-exclusive and includes customary intellectual-property and confidentiality protections that are binding on both companies.
Sparc said the Middle East protective and marine coatings market is projected to exceed 200 million litres by 2030, citing 2025 industry research from Orr & Boss.
However, any proposed UAE manufacturing activity remains conditional on the outcome of the feasibility assessment and an agreed business case.
