Cosmogen introduces new sustainable lipstick applicators

The moves come amid heightened regulatory pressure and consumer scrutiny over packaging circularity, and they are designed to help brands build cohesive, on‑the‑go makeup and skincare lines while improving end‑of‑life recyclability.

FRANCE – Cosmogen has broadened its sustainable‑focused portfolio for personal care with new recyclable PET applicator formats and additions to its Ecoline eco‑design range.

Cosmogen has extended its Glossy Lip Tube platform with the Glossy Lip Tube Slanted, a transparent lipstick holder that sits alongside the existing Glossy Lip Tube Rounded.

The company describes the transparent PET format as “color‑dedicated,” allowing consumers to see the true shade of the formula inside while reinforcing a premium, easy‑to‑use experience for everyday and travel‑oriented use.

The slanted, scooped applicator tip is engineered to closely follow the contours of the lips, delivering controlled and smooth application that Cosmetic and personal care marketers can leverage in “precision color” or “clean‑makeup” positioning.

In parallel, Cosmogen has introduced an 11 g recyclable PET stick aimed at solid complexion formats such as lip balms, concealers, and sun creams, specifically intended for on‑the‑go touch‑ups.

The format is a monomaterial solution, built in PET and also offered in recycled PET (rPET), to support sorting and recycling in existing waste streams.

This 11 g stick is presented as a complement to Cosmogen’s existing 3.7 g PET stick formats, which are customizable in section (round or square) and height and already used for wax‑based and anhydrous formulas like lipsticks, concealers, and sun products.

The broader PET applicator ecosystem now includes compacts for powders and eyeshadows, likewise made from PET or rPET, plus brushes, mini brushes, and kabuki‑style brushes, enabling brands to create fully coordinated, recyclable makeup collections.

Cosmogen has also enriched its Ecoline range with two new ready‑to‑go packaging solutions, both built in recyclable monomaterials such as polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) to ease sorting and recycling.

The PE‑based Ecoline products highlighted are the Eco Needle Tube and the Eco Mini Squeeze’n Ball, which expand the company’s offer of eco‑designed dispensers for skincare and makeup.

The Eco Needle Tube is positioned as a precision applicator, suitable for targeting fine lines, blemishes, or small facial areas, and is marketed on the ability to deliver controlled, spot‑treatment‑style application.

In contrast, the Eco Mini Squeeze’n Ball combines a squeezable tube with a through‑flow rolling PE ball applicator, offering a rotating on‑off mechanism for hands‑free, precise application plus a built‑in massaging effect that can be leveraged in “facial‑roller”‑style claims.

Cosmogen stresses that the Ecoline range is conceived as a holistic eco‑design family, encompassing formats such as the Eco Jar, Eco Tube, Eco Lip Tube, Eco Tense, Eco Drop to Drop, and Eco Squeeze’n Roll, all engineered in recyclable monomaterials to support circular‑economy goals.

The company frames this line as a tool for brands seeking to pair performance‑oriented application with reduced environmental impact and a “clean,” minimalist visual language.

These developments also dovetail with Cosmogen’s earlier forays into fully recyclable sticks (including 100% PET/rPET sticks and paper‑based sticks) and its internal life‑cycle analysis (LCA) and eco‑design capabilities, which the company has used to refine weight reductions, material choices, and recyclability.
