Dot & Key upgrades sunscreen portfolio with photostable UV filters

The move positions the brand as a leader in science‑forward, everyday‑wear sun care tailored to Indian climate conditions and consumer expectations for high‑performance yet comfortable formulations.

INDIA – Dot & Key, an Indian skincare brand,  has strengthened its position in India’s skincare and sun‑protection segment by upgrading its sunscreen portfolio with a next‑generation, photostable UV filter system that delivers superior, long‑lasting broad‑spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays.

Dot & Key has overhauled its sunscreen line by integrating an advanced blend of four globally recognised UV filters—DHHB (Uvinul A Plus), EHT (Uvinul T 150), Tinosorb S and Tinosorb M, that are known for high efficacy and, crucially, photostability.

Unlike many conventional filters that can break down under prolonged sun exposure, these new‑age filters remain stable, helping maintain consistent protection throughout the day and reducing the risk of “filter fatigue” that can leave skin under‑protected mid‑day.

The upgraded filter system powers key hero products such as the Vitamin C + E Super Bright Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA++++, Strawberry Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA++++ and Dragon Fruit Bounce Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA++++, which are already positioned as core anchors of the brand’s sun‑care range.

These products retain their broad‑spectrum SPF 50+ PA++++ ratings, underlining their ability to shield skin from both UVB rays (linked to sunburn) and UVA rays (tied to tanning, pigmentation and photoageing).

The new filter set is “photostable,” meaning the molecules do not significantly degrade when exposed to sunlight, thereby delivering more reliable protection over extended periods outdoors.

Dot & Key explains that this translates into “superior, long‑lasting protection” even in high‑sun conditions, reducing the need for frequent reapplication in scenarios where compliance is typically low, such as during long commutes or outdoor work.

In addition, the formulations are in vivo tested for SPF 50+, providing the brand with a stronger clinical validation platform than simple in vitro or lab‑claimed SPF numbers.

This aligns with evolving consumer demand for credible, evidence‑based protection, as shoppers move beyond marketing‑heavy SPF labels and seek products that can demonstrate real‑world efficacy against both UVA and UVB.

Beyond the technical upgrade, Dot & Key emphasises that the new filter system is coupled with improved textures and sensory profiles to keep daily sun protection “effortless and wearable.”

According to the brand, for oily and combination skin, formulas such as the Dragon Fruit Bounce Sunscreen further integrate the brand’s Bounce‑Lock™ Complex (built on ingredients like niacinamide and ectoin) and antioxidant‑rich dragon‑fruit extract to help maintain hydration, strengthen the skin barrier, and neutralise free‑radical damage from UV and urban pollution.

This dual focus on advanced photostable filters and “skin‑friendly” actives underscores Dot & Key’s positioning as a science‑backed but sensorially enjoyable brand, targeting both efficacy‑driven and lifestyle‑conscious consumers.
