Sika expands Middle East footprint with acquisition of Duproof

No financial terms for the acquisition were disclosed.

UAE – Sika Group, a Swiss multinational speciality chemical company, has completed its purchase of Duproof, a Dubai-headquartered producer of bituminous waterproofing membranes.

The deal gives the Swiss construction chemicals company additional UAE manufacturing capacity, broadens its locally supplied product range, and strengthens its waterproofing operations throughout the Middle East.

The transaction adds Duproof’s established membrane business to Sika’s portfolio. Duproof manufactures a wide range of bituminous membrane products used extensively in major construction projects across the UAE, and its brand is well recognised among contractors and applicators.

The company also operates an efficient, strategically positioned production facility in Dubai. Sika expects the site to generate manufacturing and distribution collaboration while improving its ability to supply locally produced waterproofing solutions to regional customers.

Sika plans to incorporate Duproof’s bituminous membranes into specifications for major infrastructure, non-residential, and residential developments.

By combining the acquired products with its established UAE sales organisation and customer relationships, Sika aims to increase its market share across every construction segment.

Waterproofing is a key requirement in all of these project types, helping protect buildings and infrastructure from moisture ingress.

The ability to offer locally manufactured membranes is expected to support Sika’s growth in the fast-expanding UAE construction market.

The two businesses bring complementary routes to market. Sika UAE will distribute Duproof’s membranes through its distributor network, while Sika will gain access to Duproof’s existing relationships with contractors and applicators.

This two-way access is intended to create substantial cross-selling potential: Sika can promote a broader product portfolio to Duproof’s customer base, while Duproof products reach Sika’s wider distribution and project channels.

Beyond the UAE, the acquisition supports Sika’s broader regional strategy. The new Dubai facility complements Sika’s existing manufacturing operations in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, strengthening its Middle East production and supply network.

With local manufacturing capacity in three key markets, Sika expects to serve customers across the region more effectively through regional supply capabilities.

The company positions the deal as another step in reinforcing its waterproofing platform in a region with substantial construction activity.
