Guardian Glass inaugurates glass coating facility in Egypt

This move expands the company’s local production capacity and enhances its ability to supply advanced coated glass to customers in Egypt and across regional markets.

EGYPT – Guardian Glass has officially launched a new high-performance glass coating line at its manufacturing facility in 10th of Ramadan City, Egypt.

The new line strengthens Guardian Glass’s operations in Egypt and enables the company to produce high-performance coated glass for both residential and commercial construction projects.

It will manufacture Guardian SunGuard Solar Control glass and Guardian ClimaGuard low-E glass for customers in Egypt, the wider Africa and Middle East region, and Southeast Europe.

These products can be used in façades, windows, and other glazing applications.

Using an advanced sputter-coating process, the facility produces glass that combines solar-control and thermal-insulation benefits with a clean, modern, neutral appearance. The coatings help limit solar heat gain and improve a building’s energy performance, while still allowing daylight in, preserving outward views, and maintaining accurate colour appearance inside buildings.

The process also supports consistent quality, colour, and appearance across different production batches.

The coated glass will be offered in multiple sizes, including jumbo panels measuring up to six metres in length, and can undergo heat treatment, lamination, and curving.

These options give architects and project teams greater flexibility to meet design, safety, and security requirements.

Local production, supported by efficient manufacturing processes, is also expected to improve supply responsiveness and help customers meet project timelines across the region.

Guus Boekhoudt, Executive Vice President at  Guardian Glass, stated, “The inauguration marks an important milestone for Guardian Glass in Egypt, expanding our manufacturing capabilities and the range of high-performance glass products available to customers across the region.”

Guardian Glass has been operating in Egypt since 2003 and manufactures float glass in Cairo, where it also runs a service hub that supports customers worldwide.

The addition of the coating line brings advanced sputter-coating technology to Egypt, allowing the company to better meet the needs of construction projects seeking energy-efficient glass, technical expertise, and locally available services.

The inauguration ceremony brought together Egyptian government officials, Guardian Glass executives, customers, and industry partners, with the ribbon-cutting led by Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Farid Saleh, and Guardian Glass Executive Vice President for Global Commercial, Guus Boekhoudt.
