Henkel and Ontex partner to scale smart incontinence solutions across Europe

EUROPE – Henkel’s Digital Hygiene Solutions unit and Ontex, a specialist in hygiene products, are combining strengths to roll out Orizon  smart incontinence solution across Europe, merging their manufacturing and digital expertise for enhanced care efficiency. 

This collaboration targets long-term care facilities like nursing homes and hospitals, aiming to reduce caregiver workloads while boosting resident comfort.

Ontex brings deep knowledge in producing absorbent hygiene items, while Henkel contributes proven printed electronics technology, including skin-safe conductive inks. Orizon integrates a sensor printed on the incontinence product’s exterior using Henkel’s graphite-based, biocompatible ink. 

A reusable clip-on device links to this sensor, tracking moisture and wearer position, then sends data securely to a mobile or web app for caregivers. 

This setup replaces routine manual inspections with precise alerts, minimizing nighttime disruptions and preserving user dignity.

Care facilities gain up to 20% less product use and about eight hours of saved time per resident monthly through data-driven decisions. 

Remote monitoring streamlines workflows, lowers costs, and elevates care quality without invasive tech. 

Developed with caregiver input, Orizon supports broader sustainability goals by reducing overchanges and environmental impact.

The collaboration comes after Ontex recently launched its innovative “Sensitive” adult incontinence range, targeting healthcare institutions across European markets to address key challenges in patient care. 

This new line prioritizes skin health and superior absorption, responding to widespread needs amid ageing populations.

The Sensitive range includes Sensitive Pants, Sensitive Slip, and Sensitive Form, each designed with dermatological care in mind. 

Key innovations feature a topsheet enriched with botanical ingredients to prevent irritation, Y-core technology for instant dryness, absorption up to 2.5 times faster than prior models, hypoallergenic materials, and odour control for confidence.
