The launch of AquaSilk supports AkzoNobel Wood Finishes’ commitment to helping customers advance their sustainability goals through product innovation.

USA – AkzoNobel Wood Finishes is expanding its Chemcraft brand by introducing AquaSilk, a new waterborne coatings portfolio designed to deliver high-quality performance, easy application, and improved sustainability for professional and industrial wood finishing.
The new range offers a complete waterborne solution, featuring clear and pigmented coating systems engineered to deliver the durability, appearance, consistency, and application performance professionals expect.
It also delivers the advantages of waterborne technology, including lower volatile organic compound levels and reduced odour.
AquaSilk is designed for a wide range of applications, including furniture, bathroom and kitchen cabinetry, architectural millwork, and refinishing projects.
The coating systems are designed to provide excellent durability while remaining easy to apply across different systems and substrates.
The portfolio gives professionals confidence in selecting waterborne coatings without sacrificing the quality or performance of the finished product.
The AquaSilk portfolio launches with the 200 Series and 400 Series, plus a range of supporting products.
Together, these offerings form a complete system designed to meet a range of wood-finishing requirements.
The 200 Series includes one-component clear, white, and neutral topcoats, while the 400 Series includes two-component clear, neutral, and white topcoats. Supporting products also include primers and sealers, allowing distributors and finishers to build a full waterborne finishing system.
According to the company, all AquaSilk products are compatible with AkzoNobel’s MaestroHue colour software and equipment, helping distributors achieve fast, accurate, and consistent colour matching.
The updated MaestroHue system combines an extensive formula database with spectrophotometer-enabled measurement, supporting a broad range of color options.
In addition, MaestroHue-compatible cans can be used with standard paint shakers, making it easier for distributors to integrate the system into their existing workflows.
Ron Cooper, North America Market Segment Manager for the Chemcraft Brand and Furniture at AkzoNobel Wood Finishes, said, “The AquaSilk range is designed to give wood finishers the confidence to choose waterborne without feeling they have to compromise.”
“Performance has been central to the development of this range. We wanted to give our distributors a complete waterborne offering that delivers the quality, durability and ease of application their customers expect, while also helping them move toward more sustainable finishing solutions.”
AkzoNobel manufactures the AquaSilk range in the United States at its facility in High Point, North Carolina.
It is produced using high-quality materials and strict quality-control processes, providing distributors and finishers across the United States and Canada with a reliable supply supported by Chemcraft’s technical expertise and customer support.
It also reflects the company’s “It all adds up” campaign, which highlights how individual choices, including greater adoption of waterborne coatings, can contribute to positive change across the value chain.
